- A central Lateral is the safest all-round starting point for a first visit.
- Fondo Sur prioritises atmosphere over a balanced full-pitch view.
- Fondo Norte is the first area to check for a family-oriented visit.
- The official 3D view and live ticket map should decide the exact seat.
There is no single best seat at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. The right choice depends on whether you value a balanced view, atmosphere, a family-oriented visit or price. For a first match, start with a central seat in Lateral Este or Lateral Oeste, preferably at a height that lets you see both goals clearly. Choose Fondo Sur when atmosphere matters more than a symmetrical full-pitch view, and check Fondo Norte first for a family visit. For a lower budget, compare the Fondos and Grada Alta before paying more for a central Lateral. Atlético says 96% of seats are covered, but that does not guarantee complete protection from rain or sun. Use the official live map and 3D view before buying the exact seat.
| Priority | Best starting area | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Best all-round choice | Central Lateral Este or Lateral Oeste | Usually among the more expensive options |
| Atmosphere | Publicly available Fondo Sur seats | The far goal feels more distant |
| Family-oriented visit | Fondo Norte | Still a behind-the-goal view |
| Lower budget | Fondo or Grada Alta | Greater distance from players and fine detail |
| Accessibility | Contact Atlético’s inclusion service before buying | Availability is handled separately from normal seat selection |
The best Metropolitano seats for each type of fan
First visit: start with a central Lateral
For most first-time visitors, a central Lateral is the lowest-risk starting point. Sitting along the touchline makes it easier to follow both penalty areas, understand team shape and see play develop from end to end. You do not need the exact halfway-line seat: moving slightly away from the centre can preserve most of the view at a lower price.
Atmosphere, families, budget and accessibility
If atmosphere is your priority, look towards Fondo Sur. The collective reactions and active support feel closer behind the goal. The trade-off is simple: action at your end feels immediate, while the opposite goal is much farther away. A higher row improves the overview but reduces some of the feeling of proximity.
For families, Fondo Norte is the first area to check. Atlético places its family stand and northern family fan zone there. This makes it a more logical starting point than Fondo Sur for a family-oriented visit, but it does not mean every northern section is always quiet or that family-stand tickets are available for every fixture.
If price matters, compare the live options rather than choosing only by stand name. Fondo seats and Grada Alta are often useful lower-price starting points, although the opponent, competition and remaining inventory can change the order. At a similar price, a higher seat near the centre may offer a better overall view than a low seat near a corner.
Wheelchair users and visitors with reduced mobility should contact Atlético’s inclusion service before buying. The current guidance uses [email protected]. Confirm availability, the companion position, the entrance and any documentation instead of relying only on the standard map.
How the stadium seating map works
Grada Baja, Media and Alta
The ticket map divides the stadium into Fondo Sur, Fondo Norte, Lateral Este and Lateral Oeste. Within them, the Spanish tier names are Grada Baja, Grada Media and Grada Alta.
- Grada Baja (lower tier): the strongest sense of proximity, but a low angle can make distances and off-ball movement harder to read.
- Grada Media (middle tier): usually the best balance between closeness and perspective, especially for a first visit.
- Grada Alta (upper tier): the broadest view of shape and passing lanes, with less detail and greater distance from the players.
These are practical visual characteristics, not official quality rankings. Availability and price should decide which tier is realistic for your match.
Coverage and comfort
The stadium holds 70,692 spectators, and Atlético says 96% of seats are covered. The club also says row spacing was increased for comfort. Covered does not mean every row is fully protected in all weather, and there is no reliable official basis for promising permanent shade in a specific block.
Fondo Sur, Fondo Norte and the two Laterals
Lateral Este and Lateral Oeste
The two Laterals are the best starting areas for seeing the match in proportion. The closer the seat is to halfway, the easier it is to compare both teams’ shapes and both penalty areas. These seats normally command higher prices.
Atlético does not officially rank Este above Oeste. The club notes that distances from the pitch in Lateral Oeste are more similar to those at the Vicente Calderón, unlike most of the stadium where the first rows are closer. That is a reason to compare the 3D angle, not a reason to reject Oeste.
Fondo Sur and Fondo Norte
Fondo Sur is the atmosphere-led option, but Fondo Sur Grada Baja requires a clear warning. Under Atlético’s 2026/27 rules, individual tickets there are available only to club members, are personal and non-transferable, and require identification at the turnstile. Season tickets in that area may be transferred only to another member through the club’s digital service. A non-member should choose only from Fondo Sur seats actually shown as available on the public live map.
Fondo Norte is the practical starting point for families. The official Grada Familiar is in sectors 117 and 118, but its season tickets use family-pack conditions and the club may withhold individual tickets there for some matches. Treat the wider north end as the recommendation and use the live map to see what is genuinely on sale.
Away supporters
Away supporters should buy through the visiting club’s allocation and follow the sector and entrance printed on that ticket. Atlético determines the size of the separated visitor allocation, but its current rules do not publish one permanent block and entrance for every match and competition.
How to choose your exact seat
What to check in the 3D view
Once you have chosen an area and tier, inspect the actual seat. Check:
- the angle to the nearest goal and touchline;
- whether a front rail appears in the simulation;
- the position of aisles, stairs and entrances;
- the seat’s height above pitch level;
- how far away the opposite goal appears;
- whether every seat in your group is consecutive;
- the entrance, sector, row and seat shown on the ticket;
- the final price and fees on the official platform.
Compare realistic options
For two or more people, verify the seat numbers rather than assuming highlighted seats are together. An aisle seat may help with children or frequent concourse visits, but it also brings more passing traffic. If stairs or step-free access are a concern, contact the club instead of estimating from the image.
Compare two or three realistic candidates at the same total price. A central Grada Alta seat may be better for understanding the match than a lower corner seat. A Fondo Sur seat may be better than either when atmosphere is the main reason for the trip. The correct choice is the seat whose view, price and matchday environment fit your priority.
