Away tickets through Atlético de Madrid are for socios, the club's full members, and nobody else. Any member can apply, with or without a season ticket and whatever their age, alone or in a group of up to six. Applications close 48 hours after the kick-off time is confirmed. If there are more requests than seats, length of membership decides, so when a match is heavily oversubscribed a new member has little chance. The ticket is a named physical ticket, collected in the host city.
Every type of socio can apply, but Red & White members cannot
Atlético set out the procedure for 2026-27 in a notice published on 6 July. It covers away matches in LaLiga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey knockout rounds, and says nothing about the Copa del Rey final or the Supercopa, both played at neutral grounds. It is open to every member: season-ticket holders, members without a season ticket and junior members alike.
The club's other programmes do not count. Atleti Red & White, the €20-a-year programme for fans abroad, gives no right to request away tickets, and neither does Atleti ID, the free online registration. Joining an official peña does not get round it, because the club counts as peña members only socios who belong to one. Groups are made up of members, and every ticket is printed with a member's name, so there is no ticket for a friend who is not a socio.
Apply as soon as the match is listed, because the deadline falls two days after the kick-off announcement
You apply in the Away Matches section of your Personal Area (Partidos fuera de casa in Spanish), where the matches open for requests are listed. Apply as soon as a match appears there. Applications close "48 hours after the match time is officially confirmed", so the clock starts when the kick-off time is announced.
In LaLiga that announcement can come at short notice. ESPN's fixture list shows kick-off times only as far as the home match against Barcelona on 8 November, and the away match at Getafe and those after it have none yet.
In the Champions League the kick-off times of the three remaining away matches in the league phase are already set: Stuttgart on 20 October, PSV on 9 December and Bodø/Glimt on 19 January. The procedure does not say how the 48 hours are counted when the time is known that early.
When requests outnumber seats, length of membership decides, not a draw
How many seats there are depends on the competition. In LaLiga the league's own rules leave the number to the home club, and only the visiting club may sell seats in the away section. In the Champions League, UEFA's rules set aside 5 per cent of capacity for the visitors, a share the two clubs can change by written agreement, and cap the price at €50, or lower if comparable home seats cost less.
If requests outnumber tickets, there is no draw. Seats go by membership seniority: the applicant's own if you apply alone, the group's average if you apply together. Seniority means unbroken years as a member, and the lower your member number, the longer you have been one. Because a group is ranked on its average, a newer member who applies with long-standing ones ranks higher than they would applying individually, and the long-standing members rank lower.
When an away match is heavily oversubscribed, a new member has little chance. For the Champions League derby at the Bernabéu in March 2025, Atlético received 11,217 applications for 3,875 seats, and the cut-off was 15.24 years of membership; the Bernabéu away fans guide has the details. A member applying alone with a year's seniority would have been more than 14 years short.
Your ticket is named and collected in the host city, and nobody else can use it
Tickets are allocated within 48 hours of the deadline, and the members who get one then pay. The home club sets the price, which appears in the Personal Area once that club has confirmed it. Atlético tells ticket holders when and where to collect their tickets in the host city. The club says it contacts members by email only, so keep the address on your membership up to date.
The tickets are physical copies, printed with the member's name and not transferable. Everyone is also given a wristband, and at the turnstiles you show the wristband, the ticket and a valid ID together. The Spanish version of the procedure names the DNI, the Spanish identity card, so if you do not have one, ask the club which document it will accept before you travel. If the name on the ticket does not match, entry is refused and the member who applied is sanctioned under club rules.
Without a membership, Atlético cannot get you into the away end
If you are not a socio, there is no route to an away seat through Atlético. A ticket in the home sections is no substitute, because some clubs restrict away supporters from home sections, particularly at high-risk matches. The Camp Nou away fans guide and the Bernabéu guide set out the rules at those two grounds. If you simply want to see Atlético play, the Atlético ticket guide covers buying for home matches at the Metropolitano. I will update this guide when Atlético publishes its procedure for 2027-28.
